- 中文說明:龜甲笠是農人在耕田之時背在背上以擋雨，其狀如龜背，當人工作如烏龜爬行故龜甲笠之稱。龜甲笠是由兩層竹編夾竹葉和油紙而成，可擋雨，是民間在田間工作時的雨具。
- 日文說明:田畑仕事をする農民が背負って雨を遮る亀の背形の笠。竹編みの両層の間に竹の葉と油紙を挟んで造ったもの。
- 英文說明:Tortoise-shell hats were worn on the backs of farmers working in the fields to shed rain. They are shaped like the shell of a turtle. When a farmer was working, the slow movement of these hats along the fields gave rise to their name. Tortoise-shell hats are woven of two layers of bamboo strips with leaves of bamboo or oilpaper between them. They shed water, and were widely used by those working the fields in the rain.
