The round form was traditional, while the pointed shape was the result of the Japanese influence. Most had thirteen rows with seven beads per row for a total of 91. The four seen here are round In most cases an abacus is divided into top and bottom sections. The top row has two beads while the bottom row has five in a group. Beads on the top portion represent five units each, while those on the bottom represent one. Of the four examples shown here, three are complete and one is damaged.
