英文說明:This is a pair of embroidered, upturned, single-ridged, hook shoes. The soles are bordered with cloudlike stitches (referred to as “ruyi yuntou”—literally, “as one wishes clouds” which is similar in sound to other characters meaning “luck”) the color of chrysanthemums and large flowers, branches, and leaves to symbolize “continued wealth and social position.” Hakka women, who wore these shoes when going out or taking part in celebrations, did not practice the custom of foot binding. Shoes could be worn on either foot.
