In 1627, he did the paintings for Hu Cheng-yen’s woodblock printed book Shih-chu-chai chu-p’u. A man sits under a pine tree watching a groom wash a horse in the river. Ni Ying’s technique shows the influence of Chou Ch’en and T’ang Yin.
