描述：: 中文說明:獨木舟是由一塊木頭雕刻而成，因為木頭很粗，因雕刳甚費工夫，原住民以火來燒木頭變成炭，用石頭來敲炭，炭清理乾淨後，再燒，如此可雕空一塊木頭做成獨木舟，本件標本呈長方形，船頭尖，船尾方，尾端鑿洞，可繫纜繩，可將船繫岸邊上。; 日文說明:一本の木材で彫刻して造った丸木舟は木材が粗いので、彫刻したり抉ったりするのに工夫が要る。原住民は火で木材を焼いて炭にし、石で炭を叩き、綺麗に炭を片付けた後、また焼く、という風にして一本の木材を丸木舟に造り上げる。この品は長方形で船首が尖っていて、船尾が方形でその端に穴を穿ち、纜索を繋いで船を岸辺に繋ぐ。; 英文說明:Since carving is very exhausting, aboriginals employed burning techniques to hollow the one block of wood used to make this type of canoe. After burning, rocks are then used to knock out the blackened portions. By repeating this procedure, the canoe is gradually formed.
