英文說明:This wrap, worn by a child of the Qing Dynasty on formal occasions, consists of five pieces of fabric embroidered with scalloped edges (referred to as “ruyi yuntou” meaning approximately “smooth going” and similar in sound to other characters meaning “luck”). On this garment, also referred to as a “cloud cape” because of the design, are embroidered auspicious designs, visual metaphors for fortune, prosperity, long life, and happiness, including a turtle (“long life”), deer (“lu” is homophonous to a Chinese word for “prosperity”), a phoenix and peonies (“many children”), and a magpie.
