英文說明:This the lower part of this coil-embroidery-on-black halter top is relatively narrow and slightly rounded on the lower border. It is probably an example from the Hakka people living around Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli. Above and on the center pocket were stitched numerous designs, including butterflies (the first character of which is similar in sound to a character for “fortune”), “panchang knots” (or “endless knot” signifying “long life”), and clouds (“yun” is similar in sound to a character for luck). This example is probably unfinished, but the fine handiwork in the embroidery is still quite evident.
