英文說明:“Hebao” (literally, “lotus bud”) was the generic term for all embroidered pouches during the Qing Dynasty. Carried by both men and women, their shapes and names differed depending on their function. This “square pouch,” hung from the waist when away from home, was probably a tobacco pouch or a snack pouch used to carry such delicacies as cloves, betel nuts, lilac (for chewing), or cardamon seeds (a fragrant herb). This pouch is embroidered with scenes of singing birds and beautiful flowers.
