英文說明:Guapi hats (literally, “melon rind hats”) resemble melon rinds. These round caps, composed of six or eight panels and adorned with a black or red knot at the apex, were worn when the weather started turning cool. Guapi hats started to be commonly worn by men and boys during the Ming Dynasty and were given as gifts by relatives when boys turned one-month old. This example is adorned with an embroidered “卍” character on the back.
