The tips of the branches and mounds are long and elegant. A lofty peak rises suddenly on the left side of the composition, encircling the distant mountains. The artist’s use of broad brush strokes in painting the mountains is especially successful. Wang Yüan-ch’i painted the landscape when he was 54-years-old.
