英文說明:The custom of binding women's feet began in China in the 10th century. Around age 4 or 5, strips of cloth were used to wrap the four smaller toes on the feet of young girls tightly so that they curled under their feet. The girls wore pointed shoes. Around age 6 and 7, the ball of the foot was drawn toward the heel, resulting in the upward arching of the metatarsus (the arch of the foot). The foot was then wrapped tightly with a strip of cloth approximately three inches wide and five feet long. The strips of cloth were tightened every day, so that, in the end, the deformed feet could be fit into three-inch shoes.
