石渠寶笈三編(御書房),第五冊,頁2402-2403&*故宮書畫錄(卷八),第四冊,頁49&*故宮書畫圖錄,第二十一冊,頁5-8&* 周鯤,字天池,江蘇常熟人。出身藝術世家,父親周黃霆,伯父周愷,都能畫。周鯤善畫山水、人物、梅花,乾隆時供奉內廷。畫為乾隆十年所進,歌頌皇帝免天下賦稅。畫太平盛世。村郭連綿,各行各業歡樂的生活情形。&*Chou K’un, tzu (style name) T’ien-ch’ih, was a native of Ch’ang-su, Chiang-su province. He was born to a family of artists. Both his father, Chou Huang-t’ing, and his uncle, Chou K’ai, were skillful painters. Chou K’un served at court during the Ch’ien-lung period (1736-1795), and was good at landscape, figure, and plum blossom subjects. This painting, completed in 1745, eulogizes the peaceful and prosperous times brought about by tax-exemptions decreed by the emperor. Village after village, people of all occupations are portrayed as enjoying a happy life.
