&*This silk tapestry is very similar to one in the Museum by Shen Tzu-fan, only reversed. In fact, one of the most distinctive features of a tapestry is that the woven image can be viewed from either the front or back. The coloring of this tapestry is brighter and livelier than that of Shen's work. Unfortunately, it appears that the artisan here did not understand the art of painting. Though the forms and weaving are similar in imitation of Shen’s work, the lines and forms appear more distorted. Changes in coloring are also quite abrupt, and the use of colored threads is not as harmonious. The weaving is also looser and not as sharp. As with Shen's work, details here have been brushed with ink.
