- 中文說明:硯的材質有來自山中，也有取於河床，質感各異，但唐宋以前的硯，大都著重於實用，而不講求雕飾繁複的外觀。本件石材雖粗糙，卻具有漢硯的風格，造型簡潔下加雕底座，高雅中別有肅穆的感覺。
- 日文說明:硯の材質は山の中か河床から採取できるが、場所によって質感が違う。唐宋以前の硯は実用を着眼点とし、繁複な外観の彫飾を重視していない。本件の石材は粗いけれども、漢硯の風格を持ち、造型が簡潔で底に彫刻があり、高雅にして粛穆な感じである。
- 英文說明:Ink stones can come from the mountains or riverbeds, each exhibiting its own special characteristics. However, inkstones of the Tang and Song dynasty were more practical in purpose and thus did not have complicated engravings. Although not as refined as others, this piece, with its simple structure atop an elegantly engraved base, still elicits a feeling of solemnity.
