In the distance a range of mountains is barely visible; one can indistinctly make out the village buildings on the expanse of green before them. In the foreground stand several wet-looking dark jade-green pines. The brushwork throughout is light and agile. Shades of green dominate the painting, as does a tangible moistness: spring has just arrived, greening everything before it. A broad expanse of sky hangs over the river, where boats leisurely sail to and fro. The effect is one of extreme lightness, recalling the saying "boating in spring is like floating in the sky."
