- 石渠寶笈續編（乾清宮），第二冊，頁700&*故宮書畫錄（卷八），第四冊，頁105&*故宮書畫圖錄，第十一冊，頁227-228&* 鄒一桂，生於康熙二十五（西元一六八六）年，卒於乾隆三十七（西元一七七二）年，江蘇無錫人。字原褒，號小山，又號讓卿，晚號二知老人。雍正五年進士，官至禮部侍郎，加尚書銜。著有小山畫譜。鄒一桂畫，原出惲南田，唯因作品多為應制之作，執規循矩，不敢逾越方圓之外，故用筆工整，著色雅艷。&* Tsou I-kuei was born in 1686 and died in 1772 at the age of 86. From Wu-hsi in Kiangsu, Tsou I-kuei used the style name Yüan-pao and the sobriquets Hsiao-shan, Jang-ch’in and, at a later date, Erh-chih lao-jen. He became a chin-shih in 1728, then as an important official he was commissioned a court painter. He was the author of Hsiao-shan Hua-pu, a commentary on landscape paintings. His style was based on that of Yün Shou-p’ing, and because most works were commissioned, they tended to be formal and to rarely manifest a free and spontaneous touch. The resulting brushwork is elegant in form and brilliant in color.
