石渠寶笈三編(乾清宮),第二冊,頁608&*故宮書畫錄(卷八),第四冊,頁164&*「蕉下不生暑,坐生千古心;抱琴未須鼓,天地自知音」。詩極有致,畫亦極有致。疑六十三歲左右作品。&*Shen Chou’s poem on this fan painting perfectly expresses its nature: “Under the banana the heat of summer does not penetrate; my feelings of peace and pleasure are those of eternity. I hold the ch’in but do not pluck the strings, for the sky and the earth know the music I would play.” The painting is in the poem and the poem in the painting. “Thinking of the ch’in” was probably done when Shen Chou was 62. &*沈周(西元一四二七-一五○九年),江蘇長洲人。字啟南,號石田,自稱白石翁,為人寬容有大度,能詩文、工書法,又善山水、花果、禽魚、走獸、人物等,無不精妙,為明四大家之首。 青蕉倚湖石而生,蕉下一高士抱琴而坐,意態蕭散閑適,怡然自得,正是題中「抱琴未須鼓,天地自知音」之寫照,詩極有致,畫亦極有致。本幅為「明人畫扇」冊第二開。 &*沈周(西元一四二七-一五○九年),長洲(今江蘇蘇州)人。字啟南,號石田,為人寬厚有大度。他被譽為明代四大家之一。從畫的描繪和題詩,應該取名「蕉陰琴思」。畫中人抱琴獨坐,蕉葉伸展於石旁,用色濃淡適中,見之令人神情為之爽快。題詩:「蕉下不生暑,坐生千古心。抱琴未須鼓,天地自知音。」題詩來解畫,並說出畫外的寄望,加以書法優美,這是詩書畫一體的好例子。&*Shen Chou(1427-1509), a native of Soochow, was known for his magnanimous character and was one of the Four Masters of the Ming. Judging from the content of the painting and the inscription here, this work should be entitled “Thoughts on a Zither in the Shade of Plantain.” A figure sits alone holding a zither as a plantain tree grows next to a rock. Just the right amount of ink suggests the coolness of the scene. The inscription states, “Summer does not penetrate the shade of plantain as thoughts drift to the past. I hold a zither but do not play it. For heaven and earth know my music.” This explains the painting and the idea beyond it.
