故宮書畫錄(卷八),第四冊,頁164&*沈周是明代中葉蘇州文人藝術家的精神領袖,在繪畫上,他繼承元代文人畫傳統,並拓展其內涵,影響許多後輩畫家。他優裕的生活環境,平易近人,謙虛恬淡的個性,成就了中國藝術家所仰慕崇敬的典範。他經常在詩歌與書畫作品中,表達對親人和朋友的真情,他愛好描寫田園生活,紀錄週遭事物與心靈的感應,是一位真實而自然的文人藝術家。 扇面畫上山水小品,已脫離實用的性質,供人在書齋中清賞把玩,所以大多描繪令人親切愉悅之景。這幅畫也是如此,全畫構圖清曠,懸岩草亭,一人獨坐眺望遠處的青山,有著超脫塵俗,悠然閒逸的樣子。山下茅舍前,兩人拱手作揖,像是歡喜的迎接好友到訪。題識說是「寫」此圖,其中點景人物用簡略的筆觸畫成,卻神態十足。樹石也是以拙鈍粗重的筆觸描寫輪廓,再施以淡墨乾筆皴擦,造成質樸蒼勁的感覺,配合紅赭色的樹葉和濃墨點苔,呈現出一幅抒情寫意的秋天景色。(何傳馨)&*  沈周(西元一四二七至一五○九年),江蘇長洲人。字啟南,號石田,又稱白石翁。為人寬厚有度,能詩工書,又善畫,作品造型雅拙,用筆鈍勁,用墨厚重,予人質樸有力,古趣盎然之感。為明四大家之一。   岡嶺間,平坡地茂樹連林,黝鬱蒼潤;一亭翼然,紅葉樹呈回護之勢。坡下圍牆半露,竹影翳翳,門前賓主相揖,似臨歧作別者。全幅用筆勁挺秀練,遠山以石青染成,致彩色鮮明,然墨色之蒼鬱,又成其雅淡之意。款署己酉,時年六十三歲。 &* Shen Chou was a native of Soochow, Kiangsu. His style name was Ch’i-nan and his sobriquet Shih-t’ien: he was also known as Pai-shih Ong. He was a generous and learned man and a skilled poet, calligrapher, and painter. His works often give the appearance of being slightly awkward with blunt brushwork and heavy ink. They present strong, weighty images that evoke feelings of great antiquity. He is considered one of the four great painters of the Ming Dynasty. Luxuriant, wet green trees grow between the craggy ridges. A single tree with red leaves arches over a thatched pavilion. Beneath the ridge is a partly hidden wall, behind which stands a grove of bamboo. In front of the gate, a host and guest bow to each other in farewell. Throughout the painting the use of brush and ink is elegant yet vigorous. The distant mountains are painted in mineral blues and greens, evoking a sense of freshness and refinement. The wet and dense ink succeeds in conveying the painter’s graceful style. This painting was painted in the eight month of 1489 when Shen Chou was sixty-two years old. &*  高岡突起,茅亭翼然。紅葉樹一株,與茅亭囘護而有致。其左連林數樹,茂密修長,黝然蒼潤。岡之右,一山高聳露山腳,其中圍牆半露,竹影翳然。門前賓主對揖,似臨歧作別者。全幅筆墨勁挺秀練,用色鮮明淡雅。款署己酉八月,六十三歲作。&* A high hill on which sits a thatched pavilion rises abruptly. A single tree with red leaves leans over the pavilion. To the left is a grove of several trees, dense and tall, painted with a dripping brush. To the right of the hill the base of a lofty mountain is visible, partly screening an expanse of wall, behind which stands a grove of bamboo, Host and guest are standing bowing to each other in front of the gate; they seem about to part. Throughout the painting the use of brush and ink is vigorous and blunt, but full and elegant.
