故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁146 &*故宮書畫圖錄,第三冊,頁105&*樹葉和蘆矛經霜成了赭黃色,秋意已深。在平原上游散著一大一小兩頭牛,小牛被遺落在後,急了便高聳著鼻子呼喚。母牛停下了腳步,回過頭來等候著,足見母子情深。畫家描繪小牛的鳴叫,張著唇吻,屈著前足,背高高的聳起,尾卻朝上輕搖。對牛在鳴叫時骨骼筋絡的反應,研究觀察得非常精細,使人看了,彷彿也可以聽到小牛的呼叫聲。誠為一南宋無款佳作。&*A pair of oxen-a cow and her calf-amble across an open autumn field with tree leaves and reeds having already turned brown from frost, indicating late autumn as the time of year. The calf, lingering to the rear, cries out in fear of being left behind. The cow stops in her tracks and turns her head as if to wait. The expression of the cow has been captured perfectly, as are the details of the calf with its open mouth, wrinkled nose and wagging tail. The artist was obviously very familiar with the anatomy of oxen and had studied them closely. As a result, it is almost as if the viewer can hear the sound of the calf, thus making this a superb anonymous painting of the Southern Sung (1127-1279).
