He served in the Imperial Painting Academy during the late the Northern Sung Dynasty. After the capital was moved south to Hangchow, he served in the Painting Academy of the Southern Sung. He was a skillful painter of Buddhist and Taoist figures, but he is best known as a painter of children. In a courtyard, four children bathe an image of the Buddha. One chid holds the base of the statue in his hands, while another holds the bottle of scented water, a third holds a bowl of flowers, while the fourth clasps his hands together in a gesture of prayer. Each child's expression is painted with great care and seems quite life-like. The colors are bright and the brush and ink were painstakingly applied. This painting bears neither the signature nor seals of the artist, but has traditionally been attributed to Su Han-ch'en.&*1.劉芳如,〈宋蘇漢臣灌佛戲嬰〉,收入劉芳如、葛婉章編,《嬰戲圖》(臺北:國立故宮博物院,1990年四月初版),頁82-83。
