Here, snow blankets a lakeshore scene as a gentleman makes his way with staff and umbrella along a path. Two attendant boys, one with a zither and the other books, follow behind. The foreground is dominated by two towering pines taking up nearly one quarter of the surface. Crows appear at the rooftops and trees in the lower right. The darkness suggests that the sky has yet to clear. The mountain rises along the left and is contrasted by the open lake to the right. A bridge, buildings, and boats dot the scene. Proportion and space are well defined.
