內容摘要說明:Baro. 30-18. Came in to Yokohama at 9 a.m. Went ashore with George and my Student. Took a "Rickshaw" and went around for an hour. Rickshaw men said to me "No wantchi Brandy - No wantchi whore' you Curio Man (Peculiar Man)! Were just about the natural size' hoisted on holes. All were decorated with red and white flowers. Pine branches were also around the Images. On the Car sat girls and boy' etc. playing on Instruments. Girls chanted at times when hauling away at the ropes drawing the Figures. Streets were gayly decorated with lanterns and flowers… Now the Japs impressed me as follows: -- I. They are small in stature. II. .. .. gay and childish. III. .. .. licentious and winning.- IV. .. .. Inferior to the Chinese in Strength' backbone and Intellectual Calibre. All seem pleasant' cheerful' happy and frivolous etc. etc. Left Yokohama at noon.
