Twenty three Savages rushed upon them with guns and knives - Fighting continued from noon till near dark - Four of our people were killed. - Five savages fell dead and two more were wounded.-One of our converts was shot through the shoulder' but recovered. ---- III) Last month three (3) men (one being a Deacon) started about noon for So-bay. They got up near where a spring flows down 30 ft. in full view of the Lam-hong-o gate. Several savages met and rushed at them with long spears. The converts immediately threw themselves down the steep declivity into the water. People saw the affair and yelled vociferously. The savages fled and the men with bruises returned home. --
