內容摘要說明:Baro. 30-14. Cloudy' cold' drizzling day. At 8 a.m. we began and continued till 9:30. I spoke on Psalm 135:15-18. 28 men came near the front' stood up and read a Psalm or hymn each - 180 were hearers - at 10 a.m. We again assembled. I spoke on john 1:10. Every face looked anxious to hear. - 200 were packed inside and 100 out and around the building. One man stood up and said' "I too wish to worship the Creator of heaven and earth." When did you decide?" I came here last night for sport' as if looking at Theatrical plays; but I have been thinking from last night till now' and I got light - got clear' as that I wonder how we all have been such fools as to worship a piece of Camphor wood shaped by ourselves." Another came forward and said' "Put my name down as a worshipper of God the Creator. Why' I came here last night to see and hear what I could' so that I would be able to ridicule you all the better etc." At the close a young man pressed through the crowd with an idol of wood (Li ong-la) in his hands. Here take this' he said' I am done with idols for ever. "Yes'" shouted another and you flattened its nose with a stone." "That I said and the rotten wood never groaned." Etc. This idol was a household god for 50 years. The two are now in my Museum. N. B. 17' 18' and 19 years ago I was refused lodgings for the night at Lam-Kham.
