內容摘要說明:The morning was fine and in one hour and a half we were at Lam-kham-koe. Then were invited to the house of one Mr. Lim a young man who had been baptized at Go-ko-khi. He fitted up a granary for our use and we found it clean' cool and comfortable. We visited a temple where a large Banyan tree in front is said to have been planted by Coxinga when he came that way from the sea…It is 25ft. in circumference…gnarled of course like an old olive tree in Palestine… To get up a story so as to increase the numbers to the temple was desirable. In around and under the immense roots are deep holes just filled for the abodes of serpents etc. The credulous say a beautiful snake can be seen at times going slowly about and is not afraid of man…etc. They think it must be some one of Coxingas followers born again into this world. We also visited an old encampment which is said to be built on the spot where Coxinga had his soldiers etc. We called on many of the Pi-po-hoan and in the eve. fully 60 pressed into our quarters. I judged it best to put eight idols I had received on the table before all…There the dumb idols spoke eloquently. Two of these were given me a Tek-chhain man to Ang-mng-kang. I spoke' then Kau-a followed' but I had to continue of till midnight.
