- 內容摘要說明：On the whole a pleasant day…Looking over an article in "The British and Foreign Evangelical Review"' No. 145…July 1888. Subject is "St Columba and his home and work in Scotland"' by Alex Mair D.D. on page 484 he says the Picts had "Enchanters and soothsayers' charms and spells' omens and the observance of the voice of birds." The latter part reminds me of the savages here and their ever close attention to the voices of birds…They never venture on an expedition of any kind without first listening carefully to birds in trees and lushes… At 5 p.m. I went with Mrs. Jamieson on board the "Hailoong"' then came off at 6' the steamer left at 7 p.m. Butter & Mrs.' Drs. Hirth & Rennie etc. on board… Tauist Priest in Hospital.
