- 內容摘要說明：Saw two savages with guns running along the beach. At Sin-sia a whole band of savages came out to the shore and sat there. We hailed them' but did not attempt to land…Further on more were seen and many houses out spurs of mountains…At 11 a.m. we pulled close to the shore of Ki-lai. Two of our boatmen swam out and ran to Ka-le-oan for men to have our boat ashore…At 12:30 a large crowd arrived and a rope was thrown out which was heartily drawn and we were soon on the pebbly beach' but drenched wet…We walked to Ka-le-oan and soon got small dirty rooms to stay in. On the boat all sea sick save A Hoa and myself…At 7 p.m. met outside with light made by putting coal oil in bamboo poles stuck in the ground…A number of children sang and recited. We made presents of handkerchiefs…
