- 內容摘要說明：Barometer high still. Wondering around the Col. grounds and down in a gulley. I saw an intensely interesting sight' a small lean bird we have here was in a tree close at hand' presently he was down in the grass an instant when up he came with a lizard fully 5 or 6 inches long. It seemed heavy and unmanageable; wonderful to see the little winged fellow knew his business and flew to a tree not far away which has bark literally covered with pricks and there dexterously pinned the struggling victim! Then viciously flew rapidly round & rounder dealing death blows with amazing precision. Such was the violence of his blows that the poor lizard now done for fell at the root of the tree utterly helpless if not already dead. Then one moment pecking at the head' the next up on a branch of the tree chirping gladly as he could afford to let his dinner cool a bit before calling his friends as I have no doubt he intended to do… The back of this bird is very sharp and strong' so s few blows on the head of an ordinary lizard would stun him…Much indeed we can learn from such wonderful feats. Seeing is so different from reading books… Worship in Col. 7 p.m. Ng Kheng on steep Island seized & imprisoned. Set free Oct. 3rd
