- 內容摘要說明：Went early to Tsui-tui-a and preached to a full house' then in Ho-be market spoke after which I went with two students to Png-chhiu-o' because I heard a crowd might be there worshipping two new idols…We were two hours getting there. The winding pathway is charming. Shaded with evergreen abrus precatorious etc. nearly the whole way…When near quite a bamboo grove to be gone through. The new temple stands on the mountains side about the end of a semi-circle…from it the mission houses could be seen also the sea' whilst the view of the "north hill" side is charming. Several shops all new as the temple were close by two new idols. Two New idols. There was a time when the place was lovely forest of Png-chhiu which is the Liquidambar Formosana' hence the name png-chhiu-o. Why build the temple? About 50 years ago there were two boys one 13 years old the other 15. Surname of the former was Kho and the latter So' they became sworn brothers. So's father died' his another lived with another man' she wished a son to call him father' he did so ashamed it he hung himself. The other lad hearing it swung himself off' nothing for over 40 years was heard of the affair. Until last year a man there was sick. An idol is carried in and the Socerer said the Souls of the two boys made the man sick. Sick man made a vow if get well will build a temple etc. He got well and the small temple went up people went in crowds to worship two small images of paper boys….N.B. all done to make money.
