- 內容摘要說明：Rain through the night. In the morning quite cool. I arose before day and at 7 A.M. with Theng took a turn round to see Toa-tiu-tiaN chapel. In the street a large number assembled around me for a reader of stories tried to keep a number away' by introducing words not complimentary to Foreigners' so I stood near by and attacked his sayings. He soon moved off whilst the entire crowd listen attentively to what I had to say. Having extracted a number of teeth we moved on to Chiu-nih. Laid out the pound for Chiu-nih chapel Where with the mason I planned and laid out the site for the new chapel. A large crowd gathered around and were exceedingly friendly. Every one seemed pleased. Old woman came out and I asked then if they dislike me building again' all Shout out aloud that they were delighted adding indeed that for a dozen years they knew of the Mission work-I took occasion to address them on laying out the mind' on digging deep for a solid foundation and then building there on heavenly truth. I am confident the crowd caught the idea-went to Go-ko-khiN' saw masons at work returned at 5 P.M. Men from the Yamen went trough Toa-tiu-tia now fine days' beating gongs and calling on the people not to call me Barbarian as I pass through every day; but to call me Pastor MacKay---- Heavens! What a change since I landed here.
