- 內容摘要說明：Like yesterday burning hot. The sun every day like a furnace. The man Li-seng-ka who met me at Chiu-nih and whom I have known for many years came for medicine. Mind weak ever since. Ten years ago he was over in Pat-li-hun strolling about saw a wild rabbit. Chassed and followed it into a large deep hole ( or Cavern among the rocks) believing the Superstition that he would come to something precious. Once down he couldn't get out and was there crying and Screaming Seven days and nights. Several times he tried to commit suicide by trying his head gear about a part of rock. Every time it slipped off he decide die of hunger. A man passing along the eighth day heard groans' ran away frightened told the neighbors and returned with them. Two ventured down with a light and dragged the half dead man out. He recovered Slowly and ever since then has been a pretty regular hearer of the Gospel in the chapel. He carries a piece of Bamboo a foot long with cotton tied to one end which he uses whenever he thinks Ph** gathers in his throat. This morning he c'dn't be kept from going on his knee over and over again to thank me for preparing medicine and giving the same to him. In the afternoon Sun-a took a round with me to see the masons at work. Examined the widows in particular to see how the arched ones would look all very well done indeed. Returning preached in the street and on coming back ten men were in the chapel waiting to have teeth extracted. Never experience greatly heat this time of the year. Taught several Students for about two hours. Sang " Jesus loves me" till very late. A Hoa went to Tamsui.
