This painting displays a large clump of such grain with smaller clusters beside it. The artist has used an ink outline to depict the grain but has painted the remainder with mineral blue and umber colours, much as in the "boneless" style. The brushwork has a taut strength. There is no signature, but the work has long been attributed to theYüan period.
