英文摘要:The main theme of this thesis is dealing with the religious Matsu worship rites and ceremonies of “twenty-four village Matsu union” in districts of Hemei , Changhua, Caotun. It analyses the development of human organization beyond the twenty-four village Matsu union: transforming from the stage of the private individual worship into the united-township religious organization that was formed by the Clansmen of Lin’s in twenty-four different gak-tou. The motivation of the transformation was probably due to not only the flourishing of individualism in the past, but also concerning the tension in conflicts of jhang-cyuan in Changhua plain. Moreover, this thesis investigates other additional social issues during the transformation process; such as the phenomenon of the civil organization- the formation became complex, and the population growth increased rapidly, and the gak-tou properly modified their executive policies. All of above reasons caused twenty-four village Matsu union to make some changes in order to keep its existence. In terms of current status of Taiwan’s administrative district, the location of twenty-four village Matsu union has distributed into three areas: two gak-tous in Changhua Country Homei Township, twenty gak-tous in Changhua City, and two gak-tous in Nantou country Caoyun Township. Regard to the present critical situation, the motivations for members to join in the gak-tou are quite different; such as invitation from friends, interaction between neighbourhoods, also the effect of family and relatives. This thesis attempts to select three gak-tous from regions of Gan-Zih-Jing gak, Jhong-Liao gak, in Hemei Township and Tianjung gak in Changhua City to discuss the developing status of the civil organization among these three gak-tous. It has been proved with statistical evidence that memberships among these gak-tous were clearly higher than any other gak-tou. The evidence shows that the Clansmen of Lin’s have resided those areas since the Qing dynasties; therefore, they have heavily involved in occupying the activities of gak-tou. This has become the most important motivation to build the stable gak-tou system, as well as to consolidate participation in twenty-four village Matsu union. This thesis demonstrates the participation condition in each gak-tou - referring to information of the amount of the members along with the collection of statistics- in order to explain the reasons of forming different types of gak-tou to engage in twenty-four village Matsu union. Furthermore, by studying each gak-tou relation with twenty-four village Matsu union and their transportation circumstance, it interprets the mutually interaction between the gak-tou. Consequently, throughout the research of twenty-four village Matsu union, from activities of guo-lu, folk celebrations, blessing tours of Goddess Matsu, we can comprehend that the relationship between mankind and worship rites are very closed to one another. This thesis also discusses the logic behind the civil organization in each gak-tou which generates the stable development of the twenty-four village Matsu union. In addition, by providing the statistical evidence from the factors of Clansmen of Lin’s, amount of members and the transportation in each gak-tou, we can explore the changes of human integration among these twenty-four village gak-tou have a significant correlation with those factors.
