英文摘要:This thesis studies the religious and social function of the ritual music of Bunun malahodaigian(the ritual of shooting the ears of deers)of Taiwan. In the field of the ethnomusicology, music is examined within the broader social and cultural contexts. Both ritual and music are the important part of the human life. Music itself is often a form of ritual expression. Through the musical practice of malahodaigian, we can witness the structure and interaction of Bunun religious and social life. Indeed, music advances the multi-functions of a ritual. Malahodaigian ritual music clearly presents such a multi-faced functions and meanings: for example, music is the medium of the communications of human and human, human and nature, and human and super nature during the ritual. Furthermore, the functions of malahodaigian ritual music include consoling spirits, strengthening the solidarity between individual and the whole tribe, maintaining social orders and communal principles, and integrating the society. Ritual process is dynamic and contains multiple meanings. With the change of society, the activities and contents of malahodaigian ritual music also vary, and the functions of malahodaigian ritual music to individual or to the tribal community also changed socially and religiously. There are many factors that have changed the religious and societal functions of today''s malahodaigian ritual music. However, the following three conditions are especially crucial: they are the alternation of methods of producing, the declination of traditional ritual practices, and the acceptance of Christianity. San-min town of Kaohsiung county presents a good example to illustrate the changing condition of Bunun’s social and religious life, as well as such changes’ impact on the function and meaning of malahodaigian.
