英文摘要:This thesis mainly analyses the formative arts of Guanyin from Buddhist scriptures, folk literature works, and traditional tales. By carefully classifying all these materials, it could be found the true meaning of Guanyin’s kindness and the concept of rescuing all living creatures. Through image interpretation and interior explanation, the connotation behind this popular mental belief in Taiwan is revealed. Besides the bibliography inquiry, collection of painting and block print about Guanyin and spell papers from Taiwan’s temples were carried out to conclude the plan features of Guanyin. Three-dimensional Guanyin statues in temples were also well differentiated and sorted by detailed investigation. Guanyin’s figure is a composition of dynasties, regions, and legendary traditions. In the early stages of Han and Tang dynasty, it came from the regulation of Buddhist scriptures. But with Buddhism belief propagation, scholars wrote many fairy tales and stories about Guanyin and the modeling became various. In the Ming and Ching dynasty, Guanyin formed a localized, folk society consciousness, and China-like appearance.
