In addition, based on the form of them, we try to find the differences among proverbs, similar expressions, and folk songs. After these studies, we got exact and solid knowledge about the definition of proverb. Finally, we try to define the “Hakka Proverbs in Taiwan”. In chapter 4, we discuss the form of Hakka proverbs in Taiwan. The discussion includes rhyming, rhythm, phrase choice, rhetoric and style, syntactic and popular patterns, form, meaning, and usage. The variety of examples proves in this chapter shows the diversity of Hakka Proverbs in Taiwan. We did the classification and feature and cultural viewpoint discussion in chapter 5. Through the induction, analysis and judgement on collected data, we classify Hakka Proverbs in Taiwan as four major types: life, society, profession, and nature. There are some sub-types under these four major types. For the feature, the distinctive properties are time, race and territory. We than use the method of classification and analysis to find the characters of Hakka people. They are industrious, tolerant, conservative, authoritarian and stubborn. However, these characters are facing the impact of the environment and the advance of time. In fact, these impacts are getting more intensive as our life becomes more and more modernize. In chapter 6, we discuss the value and development . Through this discussion, we find most of Hakka Proverbs in Taiwan are vanishing, and the new created are less. This phenomenon reveals the crisis of Hakka language development. Finally, proverb is the long-inherited and precious legacies for each culture. In addition to preserving and develop them, we should also create new proverbs with the viewpoint of modern people, to pass our wisdom and this precious legacy to our descendants.
