英文摘要:This thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the motivation that leads to my choice of this topic and the purpose of this study. In chapter 2, a thorough analysis on relevant published studies is provided. The main method applied in this study is literature survey. Some fieldwork is also adopted. The relationship between folk speech and phraseology is analyzed. A comparison between folk speech, phraseology and correlative word class is also made to further define the Hakka folk speech in Taiwan. The third chapter gives more information on the origin of the Hakka folk speech in Taiwan. It is categorized and classified by five sources, namely, characters, animals, plants, daily objects and Cieqi. Chapter 4 dips into the form of the vernacular. The rhyming, choice of words, sentence structure and pattern, oratory and style of the Hakka folk speech are carefully studied. It is the finding of this study that the Hakka folk speech in Taiwan is in fact very much diversified. The fifth chapter focuses on the content. Each of the three facets of culture phenomena reflected in the Hakka folk speech in Taiwan is examined. They are the attitude to life, lifestyle and philosophy of life that Hakkas embrace. Furthermore, the Hakka folk speech plays an important role in social and moral education. Seven approaches (remonstrance, humor, irony, warning, applause, advise and aesthetics) justify this function. Finally, chapter 6 wraps up the whole study. It is our hope that more and more Hakkas put their efforts into researches of Hakka folk speech and help pass on the Hakka heritage from generation to generation.
