英文摘要:Keliao settlement is located at the south western coat of Tainan in Peimen Township. The settlement is composed of 7 great family clans with the same decent, all of them were original from Jinjian, Quanzhou-Fu, Southern Fukien, Mainland China. The settlement was formed on the basis of geo-organization immigration. During the development of Keliao village, three secondary settlements were appeared due to different reasons separately, and under the principle of geo-organization to villages formation, the village temple - Pao-An temple functionally became the center of local area. The terminology “Wang-Yieh” generally means ordinary deities in Keliao area, so it is used conventionally in this article. Through the investigation survey, it was found that among valid samples of 893 families, there are 135 types of “Wang-Yieh” enshrined in residences, with total 314 pieces. It shows the diversity of enshrined objects by villagers and the polytheism in folks in Taiwan.Pao-An Temple is the spiritual symbol of Keliao settlement. The life style and belief custom are influenced by the main religious activities in Pao-an Temple. The custom of welcoming “Wang-Yieh” to be enshrined at home from the temple mainly happened in two occasions , January 4th in Chinese lunar new year and in the other periods of the year, for weddings, funerals and decision-making.A marching trip is also the main religious activity in Pao-An Temple. Its purpose is “to get rid of the evil spirit by garrison and charms”. There are 19 “Big Charms” across Keliao village, with the location of the main village and of the border of three secondary villages. The shapes of “Big Charms” are various and the assigned “Wang-Yieh” with leading arms are different as well. It becomes special religious custom in Keliao area. The other feature is that there were 46 "sedan chairs", 323 carved statues of deities in the marching trip of Pao-An Temple. They were specially arranged of an order obeyed by both deities and human-being.
