- 中文摘要:本研究是關於「客家散村聚落」的研究，以清代時期的關西地區為對象探討在特定時空下的族群互動關係對關西地區村落建庄過程的影響，特別是客家漢人在與泰雅族對立的過程中是如何因應不時發生的族群衝突，及在安全的考慮下如何營建移民村落，進而探討整體的防禦體系為何。作為關西地區散村聚落形成的歷史發展結果，首先經由文獻回顧的方式了解清代關西地區的族群關係、開墾方式及社會特性等，並以訪問、實地踏勘及現場測繪的田野調查過程探討散村的形成過程、特性及整體防禦體系的建立。經由比較及歸納的方式，分析關西地區防禦體系的構成，主要有兩面向：包括實質防禦設施及精神層級的防禦，至於整體防禦體系可分三個層次： 1.關西地區全區的實質防禦設施是由墾戶或隘首所構築的隘防線構成，這也是村落最重要的防禦設施。在精神層級的防禦則是由聯庄公廟神明祭祀形成的祭祀圈所構成。 2.就村落層級的防禦體系而言，村落安全的要求建立在擇址的過程及防禦設施的建立，包括自然地形山、水、地勢的應用，耕作設施的屏障及莿竹林的圍封等，隨著各村落地理條件的不同而有不同的組合。在精神層級的防禦則包含了風水觀念的應用及村廟神祉或開庄伯公的祭祀所形成的祭祀圈構成。 3.民宅層次的防禦主要是建立在民宅的整體建構之上，包括周圍環境的配置及民宅本體的營建等，甚至在牲畜寮舍空間、水井位置、洗衣空間等亦須配合防禦的考慮。至於精神層級的防禦則以宅中的神明祭祀為主。
- 英文摘要:This study is concerning the influence of race interation and conflicts on the Hakka scattered villages in Kuan-hsi area since Ching Dynasty.On the situation of race conflict between Hakka Hans and Tai-Ya people；the one of the native habitant race on Taiwan,in this study ,the writer choice the Kuan-Hsi area,one of early Hakka Han''s reclamation areas,tyying to discuss some topic as follow: 1.How the Hakka Hans has build their immigrated villages?and 2.How their defense system formatted?and 3.The transition of villages shapes and social net work? After using comparison and generalization analysis method, the writer think the defense system of Kuan-Hsi area can be formed in two levels:the physical defense system and the mental defense system.This summarization are: 1.On the integrated defense level: It was formatted by the squatters and strategic leaders. 2.On the village defense level: The defense facilities of these villages would have diffe- rence composition because of the multi-application of nature shape（included mountains,streams,and the topography）,shelter- belt of cultivate facilities,and the circle planted of bamboo grove. 3.On the housing defense level: The defense facilities are included the housing location , allocated of circumstance,and the house itself.
