英文摘要:This study addresses gods “originate” in Taiwan as “Taiwanese Gods.” Specifically, those human gods who first entered shrines or temples to be worshipped in Taiwan were either born or died in Taiwan, or their achievements or contributions were related to Taiwan. They are called “Taiwanese Gods” in this dissertation. The study extensively collects “Taiwanese Gods” originated in Taiwan and relative information. I collate as well as classify the collected material. Through Taiwanese Han people’s concepts and ideas from the obtained information, “Taiwanese Gods” are categorized into two types, according to the incentives and reasons of gods’ origination as well as activeness and passiveness of worshipers. The two categories are “those who had contributions and martyrized for people” and “those whose efforts and deeds were the account of people’s belonging and housing.” For the type of “those who had contributions and martyrized for people,” worshipers received benevolence and protection from those who are worshipped, and they held respect and gratefulness. Therefore, they actively built a shrine or temple to enshrine those who are worshipped. The type of “those whose efforts and deeds are the account of people’s belonging and housing” can be classified into two categories. One resulted from reflection and sympathy of worshipers to those who are worshipped. The worshipers actively built a shrine or temple to enshrine those who are worshipped. The other was that trouble and disturbance resulted from those who are worshipped to worshipers. The worshipers passively built a shrine or temple to enshrine those who are worshipped. The discussion about Gong Li of “Taiwanese Gods,” therefore, should be studied from the worshipping incentives and origination as well as activeness and passiveness. Through Li altar of the Ming and Qing Dynasty, “You ying gong” and “Da zhong ye” of the Mingji era, and incitation of the research from scholars and experts as well as the stimulus of general studies after World War II, this study helps us clarify the entangled relationship of Gong Li between “Taiwanese Gods” and so-called ‘You ying gong,’ ‘Nether temple,’ ‘Li ghost,’ and ‘Non-descendant spirit and ghost.’ Through the exploration of this dissertation, the type of “those who had contributions and martyrized for people” can be classified into five sub-categories. They are “those who had contributions to people,” “those who were respected by their virtue and repaid for their contributions,” “those who protected country and blessed people,” “those who could actively grant people’s wishes,” “those who efficaciously accomplished people’s wishes after they ask.” On the other hand, the type of “those whose efforts and deeds are the account of people’s belonging and housing” can be classified into five sub-categories. They are “those who sensed of current events,” “disturbance of Li ghost,” “appearance of enigma,” “You ying gong,” “Da zhong ye.” Through discussion, examination and analysis about the incentives and reason of origination for each “Taiwanese God” and its brief content, I hope to present the appearance, content, and meaning of “Taiwanese Gods.”
