英文摘要:This thesis presents the group classification of Mandzu community in three dimensions, applying the dynamic and contrastive relationship of “in” and “out” to characterize the complicated borders between groups. The first part explores the community network of Li-De’s headman families and its inner structure. The division from the primordial families generates the group floating between huan(番) and lang(人) and from huan to lang. However, the group identification is specifically continued because of the kin memories in the idiom of “skin and bone”. The second part discusses the headman’s marriage practices and how they affect the mixture between huan and lang. Due to the different ways of worship, that is, huan’s (aboriginal) ancestor worship and Chinese worship of deities, communities are classified as “huan” or “lang”. Moreover, the marriage choices and strategies promote the change of Li-De identity. The last part is to investigate how Li-De’s identity displayed in the greater social system through the ceremony held in the eight villages, that is, “Babau Ceremony”. Through the performance of this ceremony, the collective consciousness of the eight villages is generated and strengthened, and simultaneously the differentiation between huan and lang is emphasized. In short, this research uses Li-De and its neighboring tribes as an example to reveal the social structure of Li-De and to illustrate the change of its social status and self-identity.
