英文摘要:Folk stories are often preserved and spread in the form of oral story telling. There are various plots as well as complex story lines because of historical tradition and collective creation. Different plots and episodes are integrated with local landscapes, customs, and legends as well as local people's wishes. Through the process of differentiating and unfolding, folk stories have gradually become similar patterns of centerpieces with various appearances. The widely spread story of Tsuei-Wen-Shuay and Chi-Gu-Shing in Pingtung area originated from the basic structures of The Cowboy and The Weaving Girl. The main theme of this story is still on filial piety but with different plots, which represent the characteristics of localism and ethic groups. Local people's psychological states and wishes are also reflected in the story.
