故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁76&*盛京故宮書畫錄(第五冊),頁3&*故宮書畫圖錄,第二冊,頁45-46&*此幅畫行腳醫生治病情形。病人齜牙咧嘴痛苦難耐,醫生正設法以炙艾法將其膿引出。在畫家巧妙的安排下,每個人物皆有出色的演出。 本幅的衣紋以中鋒細勁之筆,即是所謂的「釘頭鼠尾」的描法,表現出鄉村百姓粗布衣裳的質感。在六人稍嫌誇張、詼諧的神態下,將鄉間生活描繪得栩栩如生。〈炙艾圖〉在用筆用色承襲宋代寫實風格,是南宋院畫中寫實風俗畫中之傑作。(20101015)&* This painting shows an itinerant doctor in the process of treating a patient, who screams in pain as the doctor applies the traditional method of moxibustion to burn wormwood and draw out pus. Through the clever arrangement of the artist, every person here plays an outstanding role. The drapery lines of the figures in this work were rendered using a centered brush to make fine yet powerful strokes in a technique known as “nail-head, rat-tail” lines, which aptly describe the coarse clothing of common folk in the countryside. The exaggerated and almost comical expressions and gestures of the figures present a facet of rural life to our eyes, the brushwork and coloring here following in the style of naturalism practiced in the Song dynasty.
