英文說明:Carved wooden fish and chime stones are beat to keep a tempo while chanting Buddhist mantras. The wooden fish says, “Mother and Father, why was I born on a mountain? Wood carver, why did you tear out my heart? Monk, why do you beat on my head?” This little poem reveals the origin, manufacturing process and use of the wooden fish. Why was the wooden fish carved? The answer is “The fish never sleeps, so wood is carved in the shape of fish that we might never be lazy.” The characters 鱗王 (the name of a god) are carved on this wooden fish. Despite a damaged tail, it is well preserved.
