英文說明:This unusual item, a swordfish snout, was believed by Taoists to have magical powers and was used by spirit-mediums. Spirit mediums employed such Taoist instruments as swords, spiked balls, and spiked clubs. The ones used to beat the back and shoulders when in a trance were called “shoulder breakers,” while those used to beat the head and forehead were referred to as “head breakers.” They were employed to prove that the user was possessed by spirits, because, despite the torn skin and flowing blood, they felt no pain. This piece is well preserved.
