- 本幅畫路邊車前草兩株，刀茅一叢，一乳鴨凝立於前，為「歷代畫幅集冊」第七幅，近南宋院畫纖細的風味。通幅設色雅淡，繪製工細，鴨絨絲絲可見，如能觸摸。小鴨原為家禽類，並非珍禽之屬，經由畫家以妙筆表現出其天真可愛的生命感，方能成此傳世不朽之作。
- In this seemingly simple composition, the artist has depicted a tiny duckling looking out from the side of the path bearing a few clumps of weeds and grass. This, the seventh leaf from the album Li-tai hua-fu chi-ts'e, follows the style of a fine Southern Sung academic painting. The coloring throughout is elegant and light, and the rendering of the duckling is so delicate that every feather of its downy coat seems clearly delineated and soft to the touch. Even though the artist's subject is a common domestic animal, he has still artfully conveyed the duckling's natural charm and liveliness.
