Cottages at the base of hills have been built by the water. The banks rise slowly up and include dikes and bridges to connect them. People are shown making their way or resting, thus creating for an idyllic scene of rustic beauty. The artist has used lines to represent the changing nature of summer clouds and washes with sketchier brushwork to suggest the deeper color of trees and verdant lotuses. Altogether, it makes for a pleasingly rustic summer landscape scene of hills and water.
