- 石渠寶笈續編（乾清宮），第二冊，頁702&*故宮書畫錄（卷八），第四冊，頁103&*故宮書畫圖錄，第十一冊，頁277-278&* 鄒一桂，字原褒，別號小山，又號讓卿，晚年號二知老人，江蘇無錫人，生在康熙二十五（公元一六八六）年，死在乾隆三十七（公元一七七二）年。中雍正五年進士，官高做到禮部侍郎，加尚書銜。 他的畫以花卉為專長，畫法原出惲壽平，但因都是應皇帝旨意而畫，循規蹈矩不敢肆意放手，所以，作品多是用筆工整，用墨潔淨，著色穠艷，反失去一種平實眞率、自然生動的韻致。有時隨興戯筆的，卻有不少佳作。 &* Tsou I-kuei (tzu Yüan-pao, hao Hsiao-shan, Jang-ch’ing, and in his later years Erh-chih-lao-jen) was a native of Wu-hsi in Kiangsu. He received the chin-shih degree in 1727 and pursued on official career which culminated in his appointment as Vice-President of the Board of Rites and member of the Imperial Secretariat. He began to paint flowers and plants in the style of Yün Shou-p’ing, but because the ideas for his paintings were dictated by the Ch’ien-lung Emperor and experimentation was discouraged, most of his works are characterized by artisan-like brushwork, unmodulated ink, and thick, sensuous colors which lack natural vitality and rhythm. He occasionally did informal dotted-ink sketches which display much more freedom and spontaneity.
