故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁58&*故宮書畫圖錄,第一冊,頁251&*本幅繪荷葉枯黃,芙蓉展艷,一派秋光旖旎,花間鶺鴒騰躍,翡翠靜靜停留,兩鴻雁振翅凌空,意在千里。無畫家款印,舊傳為崔氏之作。 崔白(約西元十一世紀),安徽鳳陽人,字子西。宋仁宗至神宗時為畫院畫家。精工畫花卉翎毛,尤以枯荷鳧雁得名,但亦精於道釋、人物、鬼神。據說他作畫時從不起稿,畫長直堅挺的線條,無須使用直尺界畫,操筆立就。 &*Withered lotus leaves and hibiscus appear in this work and convey the essence of autumn. A kingfisher perches quietly and wagtails fly back and forth as a pair of wild geese have just taken wing. Bearing no seal or signature of the artist, this work was attributed traditionally to Ts’ui Po. Ts’ui Po, a native of Anhwei, served as a court painter in the reigns of Jen –tsung and Shen-tsung. He excelled at painting birds, flowers, and animals, and he was especially gifted at depicting withered lotuses and wild geese as well as Buddhist and Taoist subjects, figures, and spirits. He is said to have never done drafts, working directly with long, powerful strokes, A master of the brush, he also did not use a ruler when drawing straight lines.
