故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁463&*故宮書畫圖錄,第八冊,頁251-252&* 程嘉燧(西元一五六五年-一六四三年),安徽休寧人。字孟陽,號松圓。人品高潔,工詩畫。山水宗法倪瓚、黃公望,作品沈靜恬淡,一如其人。平生不輕易為人動筆,故傳世不多,為明末「畫中九友」之一。本幅作於六十歲時,畫秋山疏朗,林木蕭條,江水扁舟,隨波容與。九友作品筆墨滋潤,受董其昌影響極大。主張復古,旨在挽救「吳派」堆叠繁瑣,日趨乾枯式微的畫風。&* Ch’eng Chia-sui came Anhwei province. He was a painter and poet of pure and remote disposition. His landscapes trace back to the styles of Ni Tsan and Huang Kung-wang. His works, in keeping with his nature, have a remote clarity. Difficult to persuade to paint, few of his works survive. He was one of the Nine Friends of Painting in the late Ming. This work, done at the age of 59, shows remote mountains clear in autumn light. The wind soughs in the woods and a punt lies on the waves. A traveler follows the bank in this work done with moist ink. This work, as with others by the Nine Friends, was much influenced by Tung Ch’i-ch’ang’s style, which advocated revivalism against the complex Wu School style of piled forms in dry ink.
